About this item
The AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 3975WX is a 32-core, 64-thread workstation CPU for the sWRX8 socket, listed new at $479.99 under part number 100-000000086. It suits 3D artists, video editors, engineers and anyone running many virtual machines at once.
What do you need to run a Threadripper PRO 3975WX 32-core CPU?
You need a motherboard with the sWRX8 socket. Mainstream desktop boards won't accept it, so plan the whole platform before you buy the processor.
- Match the part number: compare 100-000000086 with the photos to make sure it's the right chip.
- Cooling: a high-core-count chip needs a cooler rated for this socket, so check yours.
- Packaging: look for clear images of the CPU and any seals the seller describes.
- Workload fit: games rarely use 64 threads, so this chip makes more sense for rendering, compiling and simulation work.
