About this item
Collectors and anyone looking for a specific legacy machine may be interested in this Toshiba Satellite 17.3" laptop. It's listed as new, with an i3 at 2.40GHz, 8GB of RAM, a 1TB hard drive, Windows 8 and a charger, priced at $550.
Should you buy a new-condition Toshiba Satellite with Windows 8?
Go in with realistic expectations. Microsoft no longer supports Windows 8, so it won't receive security updates, and many current apps and browsers no longer run on it. It makes the most sense for offline use, older software or as a collector's piece.
- Compare the price: $550 can also buy newer hardware, so weigh what matters to you here.
- Hard drive: a 1TB HDD gives you plenty of space but is slower than an SSD.
- Battery: batteries can age even when unused, so ask the seller about this one.
- Charger: the title says it's included, so check that it matches the model.
