About this item
The IQUNIX FOX98 aluminum mechanical keyboard combines a metal case, wireless connectivity and RGB backlighting in a Titanium Grey finish. This open-box unit is listed at $199 by an independent eBay seller.
Is an open-box aluminum keyboard like the FOX98 worth it?
If you're building a premium desk setup, buying open box can lower the cost of a high-end board. The tradeoff is that the condition depends on how the keyboard was handled before, so the details matter.
- Case: aluminum can show dents and scratches, so inspect the edges and corners in the photos.
- RGB: ask the seller to confirm that the backlighting works on every key.
- Layout: the "98" in the name suggests a compact full layout. Check for the number pad in the images.
- Accessories: look for the cable, any receiver and a keycap puller.
