About this item
Fingerprint login without buying a new keyboard is the appeal of this external Apple Touch ID sensor. It's listed new at $139.99 and described as plug and play, with no setup required.
Will an external Touch ID sensor work with my Mac?
It's most useful if your current keyboard has no fingerprint reader, or if your laptop stays closed on a desk. Before you buy, check the listing for the Mac models and macOS versions it supports.
- Connection: confirm the plug type and whether a cable is included.
- What's inside: ask whether the sensor is a genuine Apple part in a custom housing.
- Complete unit: this listing includes the sensor. Don't confuse it with case-only versions.
- Daily use: you can use it for logins, password autofill and Apple Pay where your Mac supports them.
