About this item
At $99.99, this open-box ASUS VivoPC VM40B mini desktop is about as cheap as a complete computer gets. The bundle includes a Celeron processor, 4GB RAM, a 500GB HDD, Windows 8.1 and a keyboard.
Is the ASUS VivoPC VM40B still usable today?
For simple jobs like a kiosk, a retro media box or an offline word processor, it can work. Be aware that Microsoft ended support for Windows 8.1 in January 2023, so it no longer receives security updates. Many buyers install a lightweight Linux distribution instead.
- A hard drive and 4GB RAM will feel slow next to SSD-based PCs.
- Check the listing for a power adapter and whether a mouse is included.
- Look for notes on how the unit was tested.
- Covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee.
Treat it as a project or backup machine rather than a daily driver.
