About this item
Restoring a vintage PC with the large round AT keyboard socket? The BTC 5100C mini compact keyboard with an AT DIN 5-pin connector is made for exactly that kind of build. This one is listed new in box for $49.99, a nice find for retro collectors.
Will an AT DIN keyboard work on a modern computer?
Not directly. Modern PCs use USB, and many no longer have a PS/2 port either, so you'd need a suitable adapter or converter. This keyboard makes the most sense on period-correct retro hardware.
- Make sure your motherboard has a 5-pin DIN socket and not the smaller PS/2 port.
- If you collect sealed hardware, check the photos for the box's condition.
- Study the layout in the photos, since compact keyboards sometimes move or combine keys.
- Ask about cable length if your case sits far from your desk.
