About this item
Repasting an older CPU, a hot-running console or a graphics card is one of the cheapest maintenance jobs you can do. Arctic MX-7 thermal paste comes here in an 8g size, which covers more than one repaste. It is new and listed at $10.99.
How often should you replace CPU thermal paste?
There's no fixed schedule. Repaste when temperatures creep up, the fans stay loud, or you remove the cooler for a rebuild or upgrade.
- Prep: Clean off the old paste with isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth.
- Amount: A small dot or thin line is usually enough.
- Consoles and GPUs: Opening these may break warranty seals, so check yours first.
- Packaging: Look over the seller's photos of the package.
