About this item
If a full-size keyboard strains your wrists, the Silakka54 split ergonomic keyboard may help. It splits into two halves so your shoulders can sit wider, and it trims the layout to 54 keys. It runs on an RP2040 controller with QMK and VIAL support, so you can remap keys and layers in software.
Is a 54-key split keyboard practical for daily typing and gaming?
Yes, once you learn to use layers. Numbers, symbols and arrows move to layers you set up in VIAL, so expect a short adjustment period.
- Hot swap: you can change switches without soldering. Check whether switches and keycaps are included or whether it's a bare kit.
- Connection: the title doesn't say whether it's wired or wireless, so confirm the connection type in the listing.
- Programming: VIAL makes key remapping quick and visual.
- Desk fit: each half is compact. Check separately for tenting accessories if you want them.
