About this item
Plenty of older desktops don't have enough fast ports, and the StarTech.com 4 port USB 3.0 PCIe card PEXUSB3S44V adds four at once for $19.97, new. According to the title, each port gets its own dedicated 5Gbps channel, so connected drives don't have to share one link.
Why does this StarTech.com USB 3.0 PCIe card use dedicated channels?
With a separate channel for each port, you can run several external drives, webcams or capture devices at once without them all slowing down on one shared controller.
- Slot: Check the PCIe slot size in the listing and make sure you have one free.
- Power: See whether the card needs an extra power connector for power-hungry devices.
- Bracket: Check the bracket height if you have a slim case.
- Protection: Covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee.
It's a handy upgrade for creators backing up footage or for office PCs with lots of peripherals.
