About this item
Still using a FireWire audio interface, DV camcorder or external drive? This FireWire 400 ExpressCard/34 adds two ports to a laptop with an ExpressCard slot. It's listed brand new at $29.99 and uses a TI chipset. It's a niche fix for musicians, video archivists and anyone keeping legacy gear running.
Will an ExpressCard/34 FireWire card work in my laptop?
Only if your laptop has an ExpressCard slot. A /34 card also fits the wider /54 slots. Most newer laptops don't have these slots at all.
- Check that your operating system supports FireWire before buying.
- Compare the port type in the photos with your cables. FireWire 400 comes in 6-pin and 4-pin versions.
- See whether a driver disc or power cable is mentioned in the listing.
- Check your audio interface maker's chipset recommendations, since some prefer TI.
