About this item
Building dense flash storage? This PLX88096 PCIe 4.0 x16 NVMe switch adapter turns one x16 slot into ten SFF-8654 SlimSAS connectors. That lets a workstation or server connect many NVMe drives through a single expansion card. An independent eBay seller lists it as new.
Who needs a PCIe switch card with 10 SlimSAS ports?
It's aimed at homelab builders, storage servers and creators running large NVMe arrays. A switch chip shares one slot's bandwidth across more drives than the motherboard could connect on its own.
- Cables and backplane: confirm whether any SFF-8654 cables are included and what your drive bays require.
- Slot and airflow: make sure your board has a full x16 slot and that the card will get adequate cooling.
- Compatibility: ask about OS support, BIOS settings and platforms the card has been tested on.
- Power: look for an auxiliary power connector in the photos.
