About this item
Want to run studio audio cards, video capture hardware or extra storage controllers from a laptop or compact Mac? The Sonnet Echo Express III-D is a 3-slot Thunderbolt 2 expansion system. It lets a Thunderbolt computer use add-in cards it has no room for inside. This one is listed open box at $100.
Will a Thunderbolt 2 expansion chassis work with my computer?
That depends on your ports and the cards you plan to use. Newer Thunderbolt 3 or 4 machines typically need an adapter, so confirm compatibility for your exact setup before buying.
- Cables: check whether a Thunderbolt 2 cable and power cord are included.
- Card fit: compare the slot sizes and length limits with your card.
- Drivers: make sure your card has drivers for your operating system.
- Condition: look at the photos for bent brackets or missing screws.
