About this item
Adding Thunderbolt to a desktop usually means a card like the ASUS ThunderboltEX 4 expansion card, offered new here for $89.99. It suits creators moving large video files, users running fast external drives, and anyone who wants a Thunderbolt dock on a tower PC.
Does the ASUS ThunderboltEX 4 work with any motherboard?
Not necessarily. Thunderbolt add-in cards typically need a compatible motherboard with the right header, so check your board maker's support list before buying.
- Check the listing for included cables and brackets, as these are often needed for installation.
- Port layout isn't given in the title, so look at the seller's photos of the card's rear panel.
- Slot space: confirm you have a free PCIe slot that fits it.
- Drivers and BIOS: update your board first to avoid setup headaches.
