About this item
The IBM Model M Space Saver keyboard is the compact version of a keyboard line that collectors prize. This gray wired QWERTY unit dates to 1987 under part number 1392980. The space saver layout is a sought-after variant for vintage computing fans and typists who want a period piece on the desk.
Can a 1987 IBM Model M keyboard work on a modern PC?
Often it can, with the right adapter, but that depends on the connector. Check the listing for the plug type and whether a cable comes with it.
- Ask the seller whether every key was tested, and request close-ups of the label.
- Look for yellowing, cracks or missing keycaps in the photos.
- At $450.00, compare the part number against other sold listings.
- It's listed as open box, so ask what that means for a vintage item.
