About this item
Forty-two keys is a minimal layout even for ergonomic keyboards. This Corne V4 split mechanical keyboard kit pairs it with hot-swap sockets and RGB lighting. It's listed new at $155.94 and aimed at hobbyists, coders and gamers who enjoy building and tuning their own board.
How much assembly does a Corne V4 split keyboard kit need?
That depends on what's in the box. A kit can be anything from parts that need soldering to a nearly finished board. The listing should spell it out.
- Check whether switches, keycaps and cables are included.
- Ask whether firmware comes pre-loaded or you'll flash it yourself.
- Hot-swap sockets mean the switches push in, but other parts may still need soldering, so read the description.
- At 42 keys you'll rely on layers a lot, so plan your keymap before it arrives.
