Acer ChromeBook 11.6 inch (32GB, Intel Celeron N, 2.48GHz, 4GB) Notebook/Laptop

About this item

For $45, this open-box Acer Chromebook 11.6-inch is a low-risk way to get a small laptop for basic jobs. The title lists an Intel Celeron N at 2.48GHz, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. The compact screen and small footprint suit kids, travel bags and quick couch browsing.

Is a cheap 11.6-inch Chromebook still worth buying?

It can be, as long as it still receives software updates. Chromebooks stop getting updates after a fixed date, so check that before anything else.

• Update status: Ask for the exact model number so you can look up its auto update expiration date.
• Management lock: Confirm it isn't enrolled to a school or business account.
• Storage: 32GB is tight, so plan on cloud storage for files.
• Charger: Make sure a power adapter is included.
