About this item
If you want one card that handles everything from gigabit up to 10Gb, this 10Gb PCIe network card supports 1Gb, 2.5Gb, 5Gb and 10Gb Base-T over copper Ethernet cabling. It's listed new at $54.99. It suits home lab builders, video editors who move large files to a NAS, and anyone preparing a desktop for a faster switch later.
Is a 10Gb PCIe network card worth it for home use?
It pays off when you regularly move large files between machines or a NAS. Because it supports multiple speeds, it can still connect at lower rates until the rest of your network catches up.
- Chipset: the title doesn't name one, so check the listing for chipset, driver and OS support.
- Slot requirement: compare the card's PCIe slot needs with the free slots on your motherboard.
- Cabling: 10Gb links need good-quality cable such as Cat6a, so check your existing runs.
- Protection: your purchase is covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee.
