Will a Thunderbolt 3 PCIe card work in any motherboard?
No. Add-in Thunderbolt cards generally need a motherboard with a compatible Thunderbolt header and BIOS support, so check your board's compatibility list first.
- Confirm the Thunderbolt header cable and any other cables are included.
- Look at the photos for bent pins, scratches or a missing bracket.
- Ask whether the firmware is up to date and whether the card was tested.
- Check that you have a free PCIe slot of the right size.
