About this item
Collectors hunting for a year 2000 HP Pavilion 9600 desktop will recognize this setup: a Pentium III at 733MHz running Windows 98 SE. Machines like this are wanted for late-'90s PC gaming, classic software and display shelves. The seller calls it mint and lists it as open box.
What should you check on a vintage Pentium III Pavilion before buying?
With a machine this old, you're relying on the photos and the seller's notes. Look for proof that it boots to the Windows 98 SE desktop, and ask how recently it was tested.
- RAM and hard drive: neither is listed, so request the specs.
- Included items: confirm whether a keyboard, mouse, speakers or restore discs come with it.
- Case plastics: zoom in on the photos for yellowing or cracks.
- Packing: ask how the seller plans to protect an older tower in transit.
Mint is the seller's own description. The eBay Money Back Guarantee applies if the item doesn't match the listing.
