About this item
A 2.5Gb PCIe network card is one of the cheapest ways to get faster wired networking on a desktop, and this one is listed new at $15.38. It goes into a PCIe slot and adds a 2.5 Gigabit RJ45 LAN connection. That's useful if your router, switch or NAS already supports multi-gig speeds but your motherboard only has standard gigabit Ethernet.
Do I need a 2.5Gb PCIe network card?
Only if the rest of your network can keep up. A 2.5GbE card connected to a gigabit-only router will run at gigabit speed, so check your switch or modem specs first.
- Chipset and drivers: the title doesn't name a chipset, so check the listing for Windows or Linux driver support.
- Bracket: check whether a low profile bracket is included for slim cases.
- Cabling: use Cat5e or better cable for 2.5Gb links.
- Protection: your purchase is covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee.
