Is an open-box ROG Strix G18 a smart buy for gaming?
It can be, as long as the seller explains why the box was opened and what's still inside. Open box can mean anything from a quick return to a display unit, so read the description instead of assuming.
- Confirm the charger is included. A high-performance gaming laptop needs its matching power adapter.
- Ask for photos of the screen powered on to spot dead pixels or pressure marks.
- Check that the model number G815LM-IBS96 matches the label on the underside.
- The 300Hz display, 32GB RAM and 1TB drive suit fast esports titles, streaming and video editing.
