About this item
Shopping for a small touchscreen Chromebook for a student? The HP Fortis G1m has an 11.6" touch display, a MediaTek MT8186 chip, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and it runs Chrome OS. This open-box unit is listed at $224.99.
Is the HP Fortis G1m Chromebook a good school laptop?
It's small enough for a backpack and for younger kids. Chrome OS keeps things simple for web apps, online schoolwork and video lessons.
- Storage: 32GB is modest, so most files will need to live in the cloud.
- Updates: check the device's Chrome OS auto-update date before buying.
- Open box: look for screen scratches and confirm a charger appears in the photos.
- School-managed units: make sure the listing says it isn't locked to an organization.
