About this item
A new Apple iMac 27-inch 5K from 2020 is listed here at $2,199.99. It has a 3.6 GHz i9, 64GB RAM, a 1TB SSD, AMD 5500XT 8GB graphics and 10GbE networking. The 10GbE port appeals to anyone moving large files off a fast NAS, and the 5K panel is a draw for photo work.
Is a 2020 iMac 27-inch 5K i9 still worth buying?
It depends on your software. This is an Intel-based iMac, so check that your apps and the macOS versions you rely on still support it. Creators who use Intel-only plugins or run Windows through Boot Camp may find it a better fit than newer Macs.
- Confirm whether new means sealed or simply unused, and ask for box photos.
- Check whether a keyboard and mouse are included, since the title doesn't mention them.
- Find out which macOS version is installed.
- Factor in shipping costs for a large, heavy box.
