About this item
Home lab builders and small offices often run pfSense or OPNsense on a fanless firewall mini PC like this one, using it as a dedicated router. The listing advertises four 2.5G network ports and several processor choices: Intel N150, i5-8250U, 6405U and 4417U. Check which option the $321.19 new price applies to.
Which CPU should I pick for a pfSense or OPNsense firewall box?
For basic routing on a home connection, a lighter chip can be enough. If you plan to run VPN tunnels, intrusion detection or heavy traffic across all ports, lean toward the stronger processors in the lineup.
- RAM and storage: neither is in the title, so confirm what each option includes.
- Software: ask whether pfSense or OPNsense comes preinstalled or the hardware is bare.
- Network chipset: check the NIC model for driver compatibility.
