About this item
Old games were designed for tube displays, which is why a vintage 15" CRT monitor like this MGC DE-556AA appeals to retro PC fans. It's an SVGA model with VGA, listed open box for $449.90, and a natural match for a Windows 98 or DOS machine.
Is this CRT monitor good for retro PC gaming?
SVGA and VGA match the graphics cards in classic DOS and Windows 9x systems. The title says nothing about picture quality, so confirm the tube works properly before you buy.
- Ask for a photo or video of the screen switched on.
- Look for burn-in, color problems or warped geometry in that image.
- Check whether a VGA cable and power cord are included.
- CRTs are heavy and fragile, so read the packing details carefully.
A collector's piece that finishes off a period-correct gaming setup.
