About this item
Former business laptops are a popular way to save money, and the HP EliteBook 840 G6 is a common choice. This certified refurbished 14" FHD unit has an Intel i5-8365U at 1.6GHz, 16GB RAM, a 256GB SSD and Windows 11 Pro, all for $213. It suits office work, remote jobs and students on a tight budget.
Is a refurbished EliteBook 840 G6 with an i5-8365U still worth it?
For email, spreadsheets, web apps and video calls, 16GB of RAM lets it run several apps at once without slowing down. The processor is an older generation, so skip it for gaming or heavy creative work.
- Battery: ask about battery health, since the battery is usually the first part to wear out.
- Charger: make sure one is included.
- Cosmetic grade: check the photos of the lid, keyboard and screen.
- Storage: 256GB is modest, so plan for cloud or external storage.
