About this item
Collectors and retro builders looking for a Platinum Sound MAK-100 AT keyboard know this multimedia board doesn't turn up often. The seller describes it as new and never used, but the listing condition is open box. The price is $89.99.
Will the Platinum Sound MAK-100 AT keyboard work on a modern PC?
Not directly. AT keyboards are meant for older PCs with the matching port. A modern machine would need an adapter, and the multimedia keys may not work through one.
- Connector: compare the plug in the photos with your retro PC's keyboard port.
- Condition: the listing says both never used and open box, so check the images for yellowing, missing keys and the state of the packaging.
- Drivers: multimedia keys on older boards sometimes needed software, so check the description for anything included.
- Testing: ask the seller whether it has been powered on.
It could be a period-correct finishing touch for a retro build.
