What does "barebone" mean on a GMMK Compact?
Barebone kits are generally sold without switches or keycaps, so you supply your own. Read the listing to see exactly what this seller includes, since open-box items can vary.
- Switch compatibility: confirm which switch types the board accepts before ordering a set.
- Keycaps: a compact layout may need specific modifier sizes, so match your keycap set to it.
- Cable: it's wired, so check that a cable is in the box.
- Condition: look for photos of the plate and switch sockets on an open-box board.
A good fit for students and first-time hobbyists who want a low-cost custom keyboard project to learn on.
