This PCI Express x16 to SlimSAS SFF-8654 8i adapter kit is the kind of part used to route one slot out to separate devices in servers, workstations and home lab rigs. It's listed new at $85.39, with 2x PCI-E x8, 2 baseplates and a cable.
Does my motherboard support this PCIe x16 SlimSAS adapter?
Splitting an x16 slot into two x8 links usually requires PCIe bifurcation in the BIOS. Check your motherboard manual for an x8/x8 option before you order.
- Cables: confirm how many cables come in the kit and how long they are.
- Fit: make sure the x8 adapters and baseplates suit your case and the cards you plan to run.
- Power: check whether the adapters need extra power connections.
- Connector match: verify that your hardware uses SFF-8654 8i and not another SlimSAS variant.
