About this item
A 50% split ergonomic mechanical keyboard lets each hand sit at shoulder width, and the KBDcraft Israfel brings that layout in a black finish with RGB lighting. Hot-swap sockets let you change switches without soldering. QMK and Vial support let you remap keys and build layers. This one is listed as open box at $48.95.
Is a 50% split ergo keyboard hard to get used to?
Expect a learning curve. A 50% board moves the number row and other keys onto layers, so plan time to set up a keymap in Vial that fits how you type or code.
- Open box: check the listing photos and description for missing keycaps, switches or cables.
- Confirm whether switches and keycaps are installed, since hot-swap boards are sometimes sold bare.
- Check which switch type the sockets accept before you order spares.
- Ask the seller how the two halves connect if the listing doesn't show it.
