About this item
The AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D is a Zen 5 desktop processor for the AM5 socket from the Granite Ridge family, and this listing offers it open box at $389.97. It suits gamers and enthusiasts planning a new AM5 build or upgrading an existing one.
Is an open box Ryzen 7 9800X3D safe to buy?
It can be, as long as the listing is clear. AM5 chips use contact pads rather than pins, so the underside should look clean and undamaged.
- Photos: ask for sharp shots of the contact pads and the markings on the heatspreader.
- Box and contents: check whether the original box is included, and don't assume a cooler.
- Motherboard: you'll need an AM5 board, and some may need a BIOS update for this chip.
- Memory: AM5 platforms use DDR5, so budget for it if you're coming from an older system.
